There are lots of times when I read comments on here, and I so want to say something, but I can't comment on a comment. (Damn you FB for spoiling me)
On my Harry Potter post, there is a comment from someone named Mary who does not know me, and I don't know her. I would like to. So if you could all peruse her comment, and if she seems like someone you know, please contact her and tell her to EMAIL me.
Mary if this is you reading. EMAIL ME!!! Your comment to me was one of the things I probably wouldn't have thought anything about before Isabelle, but now I do.
I have 3 new friends, Andi Potter, Laura Caldwell and Jamie Shuda. I did not know them, had never seen them before, and didn't even know they existed before May 20th.
Andi Potter is a friend of several friends. She offered her condolences to us via FB, we struck up a FB correspondance. I hounded her into coming to a Girls Night Out party at my house, had a ton of fun and I'm looking forward to getting to know her much better at the tumbling competitions we take our daughters to.
Laura Caldwell is a friend of Andi's and of several other friends. On May 19th when I made my second visit to our pediatrician's office with Izzy, and I was nearly in a panic, Laura came in with her daughter. I overheard some of the conversation she was having with her daughter, and it was obvious that she had fallen and Laura was worried about a head injury. I was sitting there with Izzy tucked close against me. Laura later sent me a wonderfully heartfelt message, that made me remember that that was the last time I really got to hold and cuddle Izzy. She almost didn't come, but she also came to GNO at my house, and is a wonderful woman.
Jamie Shuda. A friend of Laura's and Andi's. We are connected and bonded in a way that I know we both wish we weren't. Her story is not mine to tell, but I will say that I think she's wonderful, and brave, and a fantastic wife and mother. I am glad that she let me in and although I've only known her a short time, I'm thankful and looking forward to spending some face to face time with her. (Jamie, if you're reading, hint hint!!)
Isabelle brought these women into my life. I can only assume that she had a reason, if even just that they are fun, and we could all use some more fun. It is because of Izzy and these 3 women that I won't pass on any opportunity to get to know someone new and interesting. Especially since I have such selfish motives, making new friends, teaching people about Factor X, and relieving people of a pint of blood.
So Mary, if you are reading this, email me, FB me, send a carrier pigeon, whatever. I think I'd like to get to know you.

It's pretty frustrating that the Blogger comment system is nothing like Facebook's. I agree. Sorry, I don't think I know this Mary.
ReplyDeleteThis is probably not the right place to comment on this but I cannot hold myself from saying something. I am sure you have noticed this already. I look at your blog daily and every time, I look at that picture of your family and see that one ray of sunshine over your shoulders. I think that has to be Isabelle and it makes me smile.

ReplyDeleteI had to go back and look at the picture that Erica is talking about. I am not the observant type so I didn't notice the ray of sunshine. But, now that I see it I think you are exactly right, has to be Isabelle!
