Bracketology Duffy style

This year I decided it would be brilliant to have a family bracket challenge. I printed out four copies of the NCAA men's brackets. We all filled them out, and explained that the winner got to plan one family fun night. Here is a brief recap of the conversation we had with the girls while filling out their brackets.

Madeline:

"So what do these little numbers mean next to the teams' names?"
I say, "They indicate which team is better and more likely to win."
"Well, how do they know? And if they already know who's going to win why do they play?"
She then picks for her next 12 picks, the top ranked team. Sensing a trend, I say, "You know, it's not always the best ranked team who wins, sometimes there is an upset and the lower ranked team wins."
She then looks at my brackets, and picks most of my brackets.
She calls Richmond "Richermond" and picks them because she's been there before. We get to Michigan State and she picks them because a family friend is traveling there this weekend.
Her Final 4 is pretty respectable Illinois Michigan Arizona and North Carolina. Those of you in the know will say "Pretty respectable?!? What drugs are you on this morning?" I say, "Just wait, you're not done reading yet."

Abbey:

Madeline reads aloud the choices for Abbey to choose from. Abbey is cartwheeling and tumbling while choosing her brackets.
"I'm picking Indiana State because that sounds like Indiana Jones and we really like Indiana Jones. It's a great movie."
Every time Abbey made a pick that matched Madeline's, Madeline let out a whoop whoop.
Abbey called Notre Dame, nutridame, despite repeated corrections from Daddy.
She is apparently a huge Florida fan. She has no in state loyalty to Illinois. And Richermond was a big deal for her too.
Abbey's final four St. Peters, Florida, Indiana State, and North Carolina. If she wins I'm calling ESPN.
