Abigail Kathleen,
It’s your first day of 4th grade and you started at a new school today. I could tell by the look on your face that you were really nervous and excited all at the same time, but you were just trying to be brave and keep your nerves to yourself. I admire you for trying to seem so brave. There are lots of things that make me nervous and scared and I work really hard to do all of those things to prove that I am strong and brave and tough, but it’s really hard sometimes.
I think that you are going to have a wonderful year and I’m very excited that you have such a good friend in your class. You and Kat are going to have so much fun, I can’t wait to hear all about the things you do and learn. You work very hard at every single thing you do so I know 4th grade will be exactly like that and you’ll have an amazing year.
Watching you make the move from a tumbling team to a gymnastics team has been very cool to watch. You work so hard to make every move perfect and do everything the right way, you have really impressed me and your coaches. I am saving all of my vacation days so that I can go with you to the Olympics in 2020, because you are so determined and work so hard, when you say you’re going to do something, I know that’s what you’re going to do.
Most important part of this whole letter, coming up now. I know you hate reading long letters, but hold on just a moment longer. You and I are so much alike, it’s hard for us to always get along, and you get mad at me and I get mad at you, but remember, I always love you. When you’re gone I miss you, when I tuck you in to bed at night, I really want to cuddle up with you. When you’re mad at me I just want to hug you until you laugh and I know that you’re not mad anymore. When I’m mad at you I just want to hug you until I’m not mad anymore. Things are going to happen, we’re going to argue, you’ll get mad, I’ll get mad, but you’ll always be my Abbey and I will always be Mommy and we will always love each other and find a way to work things out, and hug it out, because that’s what we do. Always. I promise.
Happy 1st day of 4th grade!!!
